News Post

[It's the nightly news, and dueling coverage for the day is on. There's a Ryozanpaku instructor (visibly nursing their left side) talking to a reporter outside the school's gates.]

"No no no, absolutely not. Any rumors our sign has been stolen is just that - rumors. We took the sign down for standard maintenance and detailed cleaning. As well, there were concerns that in it's current place it was at risk of vandalism from the street from jealous detractors. The sign is of course still in our possess..."

[The feed cuts out there.

And is replaced by footage of the sign, hanging on a blank wall. In front of the sign is a table with numerous weapons pierced through it.

Sitting at the table, is a large, hooded figure.

Wearing a Hannya mask.]

Lying?

Not a good look for such a prestiguous school. Especially a martial arts school? The sign is sacred, you know. Just having it taken is embarrassing enough, but lying about it?

Were you going to replace it quietly and hoped no one noticed? That's pretty sad. You don't have the integrity of even a local Shotokai dojo, do you?

Of course, you have a lot of secrets, don't you.

[He picks up one of the swords, angling it's blade towards the camera, and showing a clear etching of Ryozanpaku's logo in the blade.]

You sure have a lot of weapons hanging around in the school, don't you? Even university Kendo clubs don't practice with actual blades.

Even Chanbara movies don't use real swords. But this...

[He swings it down. The table is cut clean through and collapses.]

Has quite an edge, doesn't it? That's not the only secret you've got either, is it? I did a little digging.

Isn't your school both junior high and high?

That's age thirtreen to eighteen.. five years away from your family. Not that unreasonable. A lot of military schools in Japan do that.

But why has your star duelist, Isao Kachidoki, been there since he was seven? He has. The records might not be cheerfully given, but they're there, and public. Ten years is an awful long time, especially for a kid. I wonder what kind of environment he had? Although from his behavior, we can certainly make a guess, can't we. I mean, there has to be a reason why you're pointedly avoiding police investigating your school grounds, huh?

And that's really it, isn't it? You can criticize Ryozanpaku. You can call the kid's thugs, or violent, or any number of other names.

But at the end of the day, kids can only do what they're taught. Kids don't have any control over their own lives, not really. What you put into a kid will reflect the person they become. Not even the strongest, most well meaning kid can fight against that kind of environment.

All of Ryozanpaku's students are innocent.

The only person who isn't, is you.

[The hood and mask come off, and Jinn is standing there.]

Ryozan Godagawa.

If you want your sign back - and I assure you, this is Ryozanpaku's actual sign - you'll duel me at the dueling festival and win. All the preparations have already been made and the event is cleared with the promoters. All you have to do is accept.

If I'm really washed-up, it shouldn't be hard, should it?

[Closed] Event

This is stupid.

That's always what you think when you're about to do something stupid.

Okay, what's the best way to go about this.

Can't cause a scene on the street. That'll bring in a crowd. Maybe Police.

Although I bet they want to keep police out.. if I give the cops an excuse though, they'll come in regardless.

Grounds are big... as long as no gunfire happens the police and neighbors probably won't care. Sure all kinds of noises come from there.. okay.

Over the wall the figure went. He really didn't think they were high enough. But whatever, most people aren't gonna be able to jump those.

He was basically invisible as long as he didn't move. Blue clothes. Never black. Black stands out at night. Dark blue melds.

He scanned the area. That building had no lights on. Student dorms. That building did. Teacher dormitory. And there was the sign. Hanging over the stupid Paifang right inside the main gate, visible from outside the gate and walls, even.

He didn't even think Ryozan was Chinese.

Just a couple guards. Teachers probably.

It'd be really easy to knock them out, take the sign, disappear.

But that wouldn't have an impact, would it.

------------------------------------------------------------

The wooden double doors to the Teacher's dormitory splintered as the two guards blasted through it, bouncing along the floor.

The figure dusted his hands. That should get them out.

They scrambled out, saw him, and retreated.

What, really? Was it the mask?

He had just a moment to ponder, before they returned, with swords, spears, and other equipment.

Ah. Of course. That complicates things a little.

Of course, I have my own equipment.

He threw his arm out. Almost invisible in the darkness, a chain unwrapped from his arm and linked one of the legs of the instructors.

Better not get too frisky. A lot of these people are probably just doing their jobs.

He swing the chain out again, making a deep cracking sound as the weight on the end contacted with one of the sword wielder's arms, causing them to collapse holding it.

Except the ones with bladed weapons. They can get some.

They proved they weren't bluffing either, the figure blocking with his arms.

Thank god for those protectors.

Nothing fancy. You leave an impact with bodies, not spin kicks. Clip the jaw with the palm. Twist the arm out of the socket. Nothing serious. Let them know they've lost a fight, nothing worse than that. He makes sure to put them down, though. If any of them ran and alerted the students, that'd be a problem. He definitely didn't want to be fighting any kids.

All the night shift instructors were dealt with, either unconscious or wishing they were.

He threw the chain up over the sign.

And yanked. The chains holding the sign to the paifang went tense. Then created. Then with a faint cracking noise, the links broke, bringing the sign down where he could catch it. He paused a moment to tie a rope around it and fasten it over his shoulder. Not before gathering most of their weapons, resulting in the hooded figure looking a lot like Ben Kei, at any rate.

Time to go.

Dual Post

[It seems like that, with all the controversy with action dueling and the high levels of assault therein, the press was looking for someone appropriate to interview.

Instead, they found Jinn.

Or well. His introduction is very good, showing highlights of his boxing career and clips from the WRPG and Real Genex, from dueling Yusei in RGX, to Stardust Buster vs. Shian's team to summoning Quantum String Dragon. There was even, god knows how they got it, footage of his duels against both Thor and Loki's users, one of which wasn't even an official or exhibition duel.]

On the rash of violence in Action Duels in general.

Honestly, I think it's unsportsmanlike and shows a lack of faith in the participants dueling abilities. If Action Dueling wasn't fairly new I'm sure it'd be called 'unnecessary roughness' like it is in any other sport, or even a foul in something like boxing. You know.. even in boxing, you can shoulder check and bully your opponent to get them to move how you like, but this is way beyond that. This is more like headbutting or stepping on feet.

On differences between it and combat sports.

It's not even remotely the same, in my opinion. In combat sports everyone involved extensively trains not only to be able to throw a punch, but avoid or take one too. That's not even counting all the safety exams and the fact there's a referee watching carefully to enforce all the contact rules. They aren't even on the same plane of existence.

On the 'Duelist Crusher' and Ryozanpaku specifically.

The Duelist Crusher is a violent thug. There's really not any way to phrase it other than that. He's got a decent deck and way too much muscle. If he couldn't resort to disruptions and violence he wouldn't even be a blip on anyone's radar, but I guess new dueling formats will always get guys like that, huh?

Ryozanpaku....they're kids, y'know? But I can't agree with that they're doing. But it's not even on them, they're just doing as they've been taught, y'know. They seem like talented kids, but I dunno if their talent is being properly nurtured where they are.

Asked to elaborate further

Well.. y'know. Ryozanpaku...their headmaster called LDS and Duel Academy 'vanity projects by billionaires', but those vanity projects, especially Duel Academy, consistently produce high-quality professional duelists. Look over any tournament in recent history, RGX, WRPG...where was Ryozanpaku? All the other major duel schools had representatives in these tournaments, but Ryozanpaku didn't become noteworthy until physical interference became an aspect of the sport.

So I'm forced to wonder how much success they're experiencing now is cause of their students dueling ability, or cause their school teaches them how to throw a kick.

[There's a few other middling answers, like who he thinks is gonna win (Isabel) and any plans for coming out of retirement (Not at this time) to asking about proteges (N...n..o?)]

Journal Post.

...Whew.

I hope I did okay, there. I didn't expect to get a call like that out of nowhere.

[Event]

You're either in Domino's park or on DA Island.

Either way, tons of guys in suits are planting trees. If you're in Domino's park, they're setting up glass buildings for the trees to go in.

The trees seem to be bearing lemons, limes, oranges, tangerines, and grapefruits, on different branches.

Jinn is in a suit and has a clipboard. He seems to be supervising.

[Dream Event Post.]

You find yourself walking through a dark castle. Your clothes have been replaced with something probably frilly and half gothic.

It's dimly lit with candles and largely seems to be dark grey stone with an occasional suit of armor, bat, or rug.

Eventually, sword clashing can be heard. If investiaged, you can see Jinn using a jet black Katana to cut down moving armors. Or maybe there's things in them. Who knows. Finishes up, cutting the last one, and sheathes the ridiculous weeablade as the armor collapses into pieces

"Autumn ends..frogs settle into the earth."

Holy shit this man is the biggest loser on the planet.

Jinn is in a fancy suit outside of the train station in Domino.

He occasionally looks at his phone for the time, and occasionally sips at a cup of coffee.

It's either painfully early or about 11 AM.

And yes, he still has his same stupid hair.

Dream Event Post

There's a nice old town behind you, as you stand on a dock. It seems pretty peaceful and normal, except for the fact right off the dock is a bottomless drop into blue sky. Up is also blue sky.

There's a ship at the dock with a big goof pulling a gigantic fish with wings out of the 'ocean'.

Jinn is in Domino Park. That's not weird.

What is weird is that he's shirtless, wearing sandals, the bottom of a Yukata, and is raking gravel into wave pattenrs in an apparently new Zen Garden.

What is going on.

 Okay.

A couple of things.

One, Steelswarm are apparently attacking the city and turning people into Steelswarm.

Two, Shiroko, why did you tell Kouji to eat pigeons.

Three, if anyone sees a Steelswarm Longhorn, tell me.

Jinn is walking down the road in Domino. People are running away, as if terrified, like a gang of delinquents were coming, or something.

And in fact, it IS a gang of delinquents.

Delinquent cats, walking behind him, as he tried furiously to ignore that they are there and following him.

I had this weird sensation of being needed for a second. It went away though.

[Event]

Jinn is standing slightly in an alley in Domino. He has his back to the entrance. He's talking to someone.

"Oh yeah.. you're a hot little thing aren't you. You have everything a guy could want...C'mere.. No don't resist."

He really needs to be interrupted.
